Rays in the form of space

Precision-cut, bevelled and hand-bonded clear and optically coated glass, glass base

A series of interlocking colour coated glass panels form an irregular prismic geometry that is derived from stellar coordinates on the date of the buildings foundation. The resulting lines of light are conceived of as interfaced by the buildings architecture, producing facets as if these rays have crystallised in relation to the buildings’ planes of geometry. Pertaining to the traditional use of corner stones to mark the space and time of a building’s foundation, the sculpture is set at the heart of the building, like a gem formed at the heart of a mountain, hewn from cosmological light. Emanating from the buildings origin, the piece projects a spectral fingerprint that provides orientation in space and time, suggestive of 3D compass that points directionally through the architectural spaces.
